Niki Hare

Niki makes work about the slippery nature of meaning. Her jumbled letters seem light, almost trivial, at first glance, but they are hiding a deeper meaning. Each piece is hiding a phrase in plain sight; some are profound, others whimsical..., but they’re quite hard to see until you know what they are.

To make her work she’s using a variety of stencils and loose brush work, oils and spray paint, and often finishes with metallic hue, allowing the ideas to glow in low light.

In 2020 she was joint winner of the JMG Gallery Award at Wells Art Contemporary, and has since shown at the Discerning Eye at the Mall Galleries, the Royal West of England Academy Open, and La Galleria on Pall Mall, with work now reaching collectors in Germany and the United States.

She lives and works in Gloucestershire.
