She builds her surfaces with gravity and chance as much as intention, letting impasto and dusted pigment settle into peaks and troughs that read like terrain. The titles come first, often a grid reference or a place name, and shape everything that follows, so each painting becomes a mark of where something happened.

Comber studied at Wimbledon School of Art and took an MA at Chelsea College of Art. She has shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and her work is held in the Deutsche Bank, Coutts and Sainsbury's collections, among others.

She lives and works in Sussex, where the land around her feeds much of her recent work.
