Mario Henrique

Mario Henrique is a Portuguese contemporary painter whose practice is rooted in speed, spontaneity, and the embrace of chance. Working with unconventional materials including cardboard, reversed canvases, and hardware tools, he applies paint abruptly through drippings, splashes, and throws, allowing random accidents to shape the final result alongside his intentions. The physicality of the

process is deliberately left visible in each finished piece, so that the energy of making remains present when the work is viewed. He has described his approach as one in which the outcome can never be fully anticipated, producing something unique and unrepeatable each time.
His work has been exhibited internationally across Europe, North America, and the Middle East, with solo shows in Portugal, France, Germany, Canada, and the United States, including exhibitions at the Casino Lisboa Art Gallery, Bill Lowe Gallery in Atlanta, and ArtCatto Gallery in Portugal.
Henrique graduated in Design from Lisbon's University of Fine Arts. He is currently based in Portugal.
