Marco Battaglini

Born in Verona in 1969, Marco Battaglini studied at the Liceo Artistico di Verona before completing his training at the Università IUAV di Venezia and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice. His practice moves between classical rigour and contemporary irreverence, building works in which composition, colour, and historical reference are held in careful tension.

His exhibition history spans Art Dubai, Art Cologne, Scope Basel, Scope Miami, the Tokyo International Art Fair, the Saatchi Gallery in London, and the Armory Show in New York, where a 2018 show placed his work in dialogue with Caravaggio. His work has appeared at Christie's London and alongside artists including Banksy and Blek le Rat. He is represented internationally and is based in San José, Costa Rica.
