Working from his studio on the moor, he hand-dyes fabric, then builds paintings through layers of cloth, impasto paint, and dense hand and machine stitching, a process that unfolds over many weeks and produces work of considerable material complexity. The source material is close at hand: lichen on moorland rock, weathered farm buildings, the surfaces of old lime walls. He is based in Bodmin Moor, Cornwall.
