“Perhaps the most interesting home ideas on the market today.”
16/10/2020
I’m fascinated by the wisdom of the ancient world. I wonder how it would feel to live in a society where Logic and Rhetoric were formally taught as core school subjects.
Just imagine a world where everyone thought logically and knew how to communicate their logical ideas?!
Anyway, enough about the government.
Something else I love from antiquity is how they embraced mathematics in design. So that’s what my Daydream is about this week.
Reveal : our latest and greatest work
Quite a special one this week - my youngest daughter Freya turned 16 this month… so this is my ‘Sweet 16’ birthday present for her.
Artwork : the people and processes behind the magic
This week I invite you to watch Mario Henrique turn a blank canvas into a piece of art. Beyond simply painting, he uses a knife, a sanding rock, masking tape, and throws the paint with abandon. Its really cool. For the ADD among you, fast forward to 2 mins in.
Daydream : the ideas that inspire our creative work
What does the Acropolis have in common with your first iPod? Or asked another way, what do the proportions of your skeleton have in common with the spiral arc of a crashing wave? They all express the Fibonacci Sequence.
The Fibonacci Sequence, or the Golden Ratio, is a complex number derived by adding previous sums to a sequence. It can be found at the heart of a surprising amount of things in your life, roughly it is 1.618. For some reason it’s a proportion that is both magically pleasing to the eye, and found regularly in nature.
If your curiosity is piqued, this youtube video is a wonderful introduction to Fibonacci. And this golden ratio is a hallmark of the work we produce, including my personal Fine Art, Mosaics, and Life Boards.
Have a great weekend,
Richard
