Description

Ricque is a pop artist with a sharp eye and an optimist’s palette. He takes the icons of British culture, the faces everyone knows from sport, fashion and music, and turns them into something bright, witty and celebratory. The work does not take itself too seriously, and that is much of its charm.

The original pieces are built as much as painted. A scene is laser-cut and held together with resin, then dusted with diamond dust so the surface catches the light, with acrylic worked onto wood beneath. The result sits between being a painting and an object.
