Her work returns repeatedly to the female body, identity, and presence, most recognisably through large-scale wall installations, commissioned for private homes and commercial spaces across the United States.

Armstrong holds a BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art. Her work is held in the Brooklyn Museum's Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art and recognised by the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.

She lives in Stratford, Connecticut, and teaches ceramics at Manhattanville College.
