Portrait Commission – Molly Gaisford

Description

Molly Gaisford paints people in a way that makes you feel their presence, not just their likeness. She works with texture and immediacy, and her portraits catch personality as much as appearance: the small things that make someone themselves, so each one seems to hold a life of its own.

She trained first as an actress, at LAMDA, and still works on stage and screen, which may be part of why she reads a face so well. She learned to paint in the French atelier method at the Heatherley School, works mainly in acrylic, and since 2016 has let a freer, more instinctive kind of painting run alongside the portraits.
