Description
A Gianfranco Meggiato sculpture compels the viewer to look inwards. Lattices of bronze and steel wind around a hidden sphere at the centre. The whole piece is built around that sphere. He calls it introsculpture, and the empty space inside matters as much as the metal around it.
He works in bronze and steel, without preparatory drawings, letting each form evolve as it grows. The pieces range from the intimate to the monumental, with the largest installed in public places where they evoke questions about history and memory.
