Seong-Gu Lee

Korean sculptor Seong Gu Lee draws inspiration from the human figure, a subject long favored by artists to express timeless emotional and psychological battles. His sculptures explore the constant yet evolving human experience, shaped not by changes in human nature but by shifting cultural and environmental contexts. As Lee reflects, “It’s not that people themselves have changed, but the world around them has.” Whether in ancient times or the modern day, he believes our fundamental desires and internal struggles remain much the same. Through his expansive body of metallic works, Lee wrestles with themes of existence, the fragility of life, and the elusive pursuit of immortality.
