Adam Ball’s organic patterns feel spontaneous and wild, yet every cut is meticulously engineered. Based in London, his work interprets organic patterns, like DNA and forest distribution – which he rebuilds using painting, hand-cut paper, fabric and installations. His techniques include burning or eroding surfaces, layering materials to create complex, tactile compositions. His mix of intuitive pattern-making and rigorous engineering make his work especially compelling.
Adam’s had exhibitions with Gagosian and the Royal Academy, has exhibited internationally in major galleries and institutions (for example New York’s Paul Kasmin Gallery, Dallas’s Goss-Michael Foundation) and has completed public commissions (including a large-scale light-box installation at Royal Papworth Hospital).
