The story so far...

Long before my career in the arts, my parents assured me an engineering degree was more valuable than an art degree. So I went to Georgia Tech. But my love for art remained while, luckily, I did pretty well in my first business. In fact, I spent more on my first work of art than on my first car.

So when I started this business in 2002, I already had some success. My artistic practice became and remains telling stories. Working with people’s memories, celebrating what’s meaningful. Doing this taught me that I have a peculiar version of Creative ADHD: a condition which affords me laser-like focus on whatever I’m doing… for six to eight years. Then my focus evolves.

So in these pages you’ll find a variety of ideas, from my artwork (I now take on just four commissions per year), and studio work with people’s memories, to the World According to Kids, and other personal video work. All connected by meaningful memory, and managed by my incredible team. I still get my fingers sticky, but I have a lot more help now.

My focus is currently on art advisory. Over the years, some clients asked for my advice and I realised I was good at it and enjoyed doing it. Then the Instagram channel exploded. For pretty much saying the same stuff I’d been saying privately for years. So that brings us to today.

McKay and Williamson are the surnames of my two grandfathers, who built homes. I named this business after them because, like a good home, art is about more than aesthetics, it’s a formative part of one’s life.
