James Gillick

James harnesses the masters of the Dutch Golden Age with every painting. From the type of canvas to the meticulous brushwork, he even grinds and makes his own pigments and varnishes, using the identical palette to those used by painters between 1600 and 1750. The discipline is complete, and it shows in the work's distinctive warmth and depth.

Gillick studied Landscape Architecture at Cheltenham and Gloucester College before training as a painter, and has exhibited with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, and the London Art Fair. Notable commissions include portraits of Margaret Thatcher and Pope John Paul II.

These pieces are all about 2-3ft square, with prices from $15k-25k.
