Bull Walking

Description

Hamish sculpts animals as living, moving things rather than museum specimens. His bronzes exhibit a moment of motion: a bull mid-stride, an eagle about to lift. His subjects come from watching the real thing up close and in the wild.

Raised on a livestock farm in Cornwall and largely self-taught, he models in clay with fast, often unrepeatable gestures, working quickly to keep the life in the pose. The finished pieces are cast by the lost wax method as limited editions in bronze, stainless steel and silver.
