We specialise in helping people have a great experience commissioning art. The key is to match your brief to the right artist. So we start by discussing the project with you. We figure out what you’d like to achieve and your budget. We then review our exclusive stable of artists.

It’s not just portraits – you might ask for a scene, a group of people, or for a landscape artist to interpret that meaningful photo of a sunset. We guide you through the process before recommending artists who are likely to accept the brief.

Budgets, from £3000

Every artist has their own pricing metric, which we honour, and their prices are the same anywhere else. We have BP Portrait Award winners and Venice Biennale exhibitors, as well as our favourites that we found at the Affordable Art Fair. So the pricing will vary considerably by artist (hint, there are no BP Portrait Award winners available at £3k…).

A Tip on Commissioning

Our aim is to ensure your commission feels like a piece of Art first, something a gallery would exhibit, that also happens to be deeply personal and meaningful to you. Most pieces are inspired by a photo, and there are rules to doing this well.

Great Photo, but…
Great art expresses mystery – at some level it makes us feel. So for figurative work, one key is to choose a photo in which we’re curious as to either what is happening, or what the person is thinking. There should be some intrigue to the image. Below are a variety of examples that help illustrate good commission work.
